Ruth Ennis

Ruth Ennis is a poet and verse-novelist from Kildare, Ireland, where she still lives. She has an MPhil in Children’s Literature from Trinity College Dublin.

Ruth’s debut, a haunting YA verse novel, Shorelines, was published in the UK and the US by Little Island in 2026, earning a starred Kirkus review.

She was Emerging Writer in Residence at dlr LexIcon (the main public library and cultural centre of Dún Laoghaire) in 2025/26, and regularly reviews children’s and young adult books on various platforms including Books Ireland Magazine and Children’s Books Ireland.

Ruth can be found giving book recommendations at any given time, as well as regularly sharing photos of her cat.
