Meg McLaren


Meg is a writer, illustrator, and printmaker based in Inverness.

She graduated with an in MA Children's Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art in 2013. Meg likes building worlds for her characters to live in and uses detail and typography to add humour to her images. Her work is a combination of traditionally drawn outlines, hand-printed textures and digital colour.

When she’s not up to her eyeballs in ink Meg can usually be found on a very long walk, in front of a TV mystery, or trying to convince her dog that it’s not dinner time yet.

Her first picture book, Life Is Magic, published by Andersen Press, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2017 and The Station Mouse won the Bookbug Picture Book Prize 2020.
