Frances Durkin

Frances is a historian and writes non-fiction for children.

She holds a PhD in Medieval History from the University of Birmingham and is most at home wandering the grounds of medieval castles or sitting amongst stacks of books in the library. She loves sharing her research through the books that she writes.

She has written the historical graphic novel series The Histronauts, published by b small publishing. An Egyptian Adventure won the Information category at the North Somerset Teacher’s Book Award in 2018.

Frances is a regular contributor to Aquila magazine and blogs about making history accessible for the entire family, whether that’s through places to visit, books to read, shows to watch, or things to do.

Frances was born in Yorkshire and now lives in Buckinghamshire with her partner and two young daughters.
